How to JoinThe process for becoming a member of Lanterne Rouge is very informal. For starters, read the “About Us” page on the Website. By joining the club each year, members indicate that they support the club’s mission and are willing to participate in both the club’s on- and off-the-bike activities. Next you should ride with the club a few times to see if the club is a good fit for you and vice versa. (Please download, print, and bring the corresponding cue sheet from our rides page.) If it’s the Saturday ride, stick around for the post-ride fun at the Java Shack. Get to know us and let us get to know you. Lastly, tell us that you want to join, and pay for your dues and club jersey. Welcome to the club. BenefitsYou take out what you put in. Everyone who rides consistently with the club improves and has fun in the process. Of course you also get a club jersey; fun guys to ride, train, and race with; invited to club social events; and notices about unofficial spontaneous rides on the club’s listserv. Plus, there’s this really cool club Website! RequirementsIn addition to $10 in annual dues, members are required to buy 1 short sleeve jersey every single year that they are members. Usually a jersey costs in the ballpark of $65. (Purchase of additional items such as short- and long-sleeve jerseys, shorts, etc. is optional.) Members are NOT required to race. |
